Got a call from (310) 467-6920, a woman with an accent identified herself as being from the Unclaimed Prizes Department of Global International Lottery -something. She asked if I had received any contacts reporting that I had won a sweepstakes prize. I HAVE been called (twice in ~ 2 weeks) indicating that I won a prize from the Publishers Clearing House. Days earlier, I had heard a news item saying the PCH announced that it would no longer pay ANY amounts, even to customers who had already won. I hung up, recognizing it to be a scam. The woman explained how scammers can "see" people who have won sweepstakes or lotteries, then contact them about how to obtain the checks/deposits, etc. Then she said her organization could get the check to me. When I asked how much it was, she said "1.5 million dollars". I asked what Lottery it was from and she listed off a few names, including Publisher's Clearing House and Proctor & Gamble. She said I could either continue a process through her company or just ignore it. Since I never entered any sweepstakes contests from either one of those entities, I told her I just wanted to drop it. When I asked again what the name of her group was, she started talking, then abruptly hung up.
