It started when I accessed an hp website to get support for a printer driver. I used their chat assistant who then had a man claiming to be a Complete A+ Ceritified Technician. He gave his name as Jack Wilson, phone 323-380-8194, ext 102 and employee ID hp@135. He claimed that my computer was accessed by numerous foreign agents and that my network was unsecured. He then had someone named Simon, purported to be a Senior Level 8 Network and IP Expert, work remotely on my computer. This work was going to cost $199. But he said my network needed a firewall to fully protect my computer and he recommended IP Sonic Wall Protection. He offered several plans. I thought I would try the 3-year plan, but he said if I went for the 7-year plan for $999 he would waive the $199 charge and all sales taxes. I unfortunately went for the 7-year plan, and was emailed an official looking invoice from hp. I used PayPal to pay for it through a direct debit of my checking account. PayPal flagged the transaction as possibly flagrant, held payment for a day, and then let it go through without further explanation. I have checked to see if my IP address is secure at a NordVPN website and it doesn't appear to be protected. I have left messages for Jack Wilson but he has no returned my calls. So I am now convinced that I have been scammed. [BBB Scam Type: Tech Support] [Business: Jack Wilson of Candler Support LLC D] [Location: PA, USA - 15840]
