I am the finance officer for a library system. I received an email that was supposedly forwarded to me via the scammer, showing a previous conversation from my Director saying to forward the invoice to me. Attached was a invoice, along with a W9 showing the business information necessary to set up a new vendor. As the total bill was $49,334.79 and my Director had not mentioned it to me personally, I did not pay the invoice until I spoke with her. She said it was a total fabrication and to report the scam.
