Received a text on my phone from phone number (470) 750-9962. Area code appears to be for the Atlanta metropolitan area. Text came in at 8:10am pacific time as i am an Oregon resident. Meassage reads "Your account is in great standing, your options are now available to view in your account auth.checkgo.org/jTW35jTg msg STOP to optout (CG)" I was immediately suspicious and did not follow the link provided. I copied the link instead and googled who it is. Everything points to scammers and so i am reporting this. I believe my phone number is the only info they have. I am including a screen shot of the message. [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Check Go / impostor] [Location: OR, USA - 97203]
I keep getting texts from these scammers, from number (470)750-9962 [BBB Scam Type: Advance Fee Loan] [Business: 470750-9962] [Location: GA, USA - 30705]
I received an unsolicited SMS text message from phone number (470)750-9962 by someone claiming to be "Amy" as a representative of a company named "CheckGo". I believe this text message was a phishing attempt. Note: I've partially redacted the content of the text message because it contained my name and a URL that led to a webpage that auto-populates with my cell phone number. Here's the text message I received: "Hey redacted, its Amy your request has been accepted! Options will expire within. 12 Hours. Tap now sub.checkgo.org/redacted Text STOP to QUIT (CG)" Note: I've partially redacted the "form.checkgo.org" URL below because it contained my cell phone number and an email address. Navigating to the "sub.checkgo.org/redacted" link redirected me to this URL: "https://form.checkgo.org/expired?sub1=4681&sub2=SMS&phone=redacted&email=redacted&fname=&lname=&txid=ef9b92606535460dbee8441e7f764b83&partner_id=99&stxid=21c7ed0b44f03069fef5bf85c647870939950e-t9c663-d5f57d65" The webpage at this URL: "https://form.checkgo.org/expired?sub1=4681&sub2=SMS&phone=redacted&email=redacted&fname=&lname=&txid=ef9b92606535460dbee8441e7f764b83&partner_id=99&stxid=21c7ed0b44f03069fef5bf85c647870939950e-t9c663-d5f57d65" looks like a regular login page, except that instead of having username and password fields for entering login credentials, it has "Phone Number" and Date of Birth" fields. Also, once the "Login" page loaded, the "Phone Number" field was pre-populated with my actual cell phone number (this is based on the phone number listed after "SMS&phone=" in the URL). It appears that the owner of the website intends for the user to enter their "Date of Birth", and then click the "Login" button.
