I was contacted by phone by a company identifying itself as “GRS and Associates” and an individual claiming to be an attorney named NAME. The caller alleged that I owed a debt related to a 2016 bail bond co-sign. They threatened wage garnishment and liens if payment was not made. The caller refused to provide the name of the original creditor and did not provide written validation of the debt. No court documentation or certified mail has been received. The business does not appear to have a verifiable address or online presence. This appears to be an impersonation of a debt collection law firm attempting to collect money without proper documentation. I am being contacted by individuals claiming to be “NAME, attorney for GRS & Associates” regarding an alleged bail bond indemnitor debt from 2016. They have sent threatening text messages stating a motion for default has been filed and that the Mercer County Sheriff will serve me. They provided a short case number (101389) which does not match any NJ court docket format. I have verified there is no civil case filed in NJ courts and no judgment on my credit report. The callers are using multiple phone numbers (716-932-3283 and 732-426-6661. No written validation of the debt has been mailed to me. This appears to be deceptive debt collection and possible attorney impersonation. I am requesting investigation and confirmation of licensing and validation requirements under the FDCPA.
