It had the correct information concerning my vehicle and requested I call 1-844-763-0130 within 7 days. I knew it was a scam since it had a fake city listed on the waiver. Letter is a three-sided perforated tab letter that looks like how W-2's are mailed. Tear the two side tabs first then the long top one. Address and my first and last name are correct as well as basic information about my recent vehicle purchase (Year, Make, and Model). Pretended to be the dealer I purchased the vehicle from and gave a record ID (AF11L22884) and phone number to contact them (1-844-763-0130). Attached is an allocated waiver for $199, addressed to me with blank signature line, and legitimate rear side of a the check with endorsement lines, mobile deposit check box, real heat sensitive pink flag, and a list of security features that exceed industry guidelines including colored background, microprinting, artificial watermark, bottom warning band, and the thermochromatic ink. I originally thought that these 986-67, texts, were spam, so I dismissed them. I then found, what I thought was a bill, addressed to me, with my address, in my actual mailbox. This “bill” had the photo, of the same make and model of my car; a Kia, Sorento. Also, when I saw the mail, I’m embarrassed to say that without really studying it, it really made me think that I was late in taking care of business with my car, this is the first time I ever bought a car. I thought that I had been dismissing an extra payment, all along. I called the number on the “bill”, associating it with the previously dismissed texts from my car lender : Action required. We’re switching loan payment providers. Please cancel your current recurring payment & set up a new one to avoid missed payments: link provided.. . The telephone number that I called to make a late payment to, is 1-844-763-0130 The texts were legitimate, the “bill”, mailed to me was not. I thought said, “bill”, was associated with the DMV because it had a barcode on the front. When I called, the guy said his name was Landon and when I explained I was late, Landon told me that these payments were separate from my car payment the entire time and he said that he could fix it and make things right now by starting to make payments on it. I was still confused but I figured that I just didn’t quite remember everything from that day, that I bought the car. I tried to make the payment of 199.00.
