I received an email, looking as though it was from AAA Auto Club. It offered an Auto Emergency Kit, if I replied in time to the offer. Having been a member of AAA for decades, I thought it might be real. At some point in clicking on the link to the offer, I began to realize this was a scam and ultimately exited and deleted all related emails from my laptop. I saw the first charge on my bank account last month for $17.52 from 8554438210THEREALSTRIN VisaAuth. When I saw the second charge today for $83.36 I realized I had been scammed. I called the 855 phone number and was told I had reached "Optimal Solutions" , a third party company that provides services to other businesses selling makeup, supplements, etc. So he could tell me how I was listed with them, I gave the agent (heavy foreign accent) my name and email address. He explained that I had accepted their offer to be part of a sweepstakes for an auto kit and in fact had allowed the first payment for their services last month at $17.52. The second charge was simply to keep me in the "running" for the sweepstakes and to make me eligible for other offers that may be presented. I told him I thought I had been scammed and that I would likely report them to the FCC, and then instructed him to cancel any future payments. He offered to give me a 50% refund ($41.68) if I agreed to proceed no further with any complaints. I told him that I was not asking for a refund, and that I would not commit to any future actions on my part. He provided me with a cancellation code, and after further attempts to get me to agree to no further actions in return for the refund, I politely said no thank you and hung up.
