Norton impersonation fraud On Monday, June 8, 2026, I experienced technical issues with my home printer. To find assistance, I searched Google for a customer support phone number and found the toll-free number 855-523-4266. Believing this was a legitimate support line for my device or security software, I dialed the number. The representative who answered the call instructed me to sit in front of my computer and requested remote access to my laptop to diagnose the problem. Trusting they were a legitimate technician, I granted them remote access. After manipulating settings on my laptop, the individual informed me that I had major issues that required a payment of $899.00 to fix. Unaware that this was a fraudulent operation, I provided my credit card information and authorized the $899.00 charge. Later, my daughter reviewed the situation, searched the phone number (855-523-4266), and confirmed that it is a known fraudulent tech-support scam number with no official affiliation to Norton or any legitimate printer manufacturer. I am filing this report to document the fraudulent phone number, the remote access intrusion, and the financial theft of $899.00, in hopes of preventing these scammers from victimizing other citizens.
