I got a call from 855-999-7881 saying they were from Merchant Services or Merchant Direct Group. I believe the name she gave my coworker was Mary from merchant support. She went into a description about how our merchant account was being over charged at roughly 3+% instead of our normal 2+% for some new fees that were called out on our October statement notes. Since we had not verbally refuted these, we were auto enrolled to the higher rate. That our small to medium company merchant account for credit card processing should not have these fees added on. She had my coworker look up our recent statement to verify the processing dollars and fees. Once she downloaded the latest statement and verified these amounts, she asked my coworker to email her a copy of the statement to [email protected] with a specific reference code so she could give her a confirmation code from the underwriters department. The lady gave a confirmation code when they received the PDF. She stated that the underwriters would review and call back in a few days to discuss how they can help us save money on these services. After that phone call I looked up the phone number and could not connect it to any direct company. I did the math and found out our rate has not changed on current credit card processor account.
