I looked up local locksmiths due to an issue with my home. The website https://www.cromwelllocksmith.com/ came up. I called the number on the webpage: (860) 337-8048. Phone number the contractor contacted me from was 1-475-405-3052. No estimate was provided. When the "contractor" arrived, they did not have an ID or licensing on them. It was two men, one of which spoke English and what I believe to be Mexican Spanish. The other exclusively spoke Mexican Spanish. (I believe it to have been Mexican Spanish rather than the other dialects I am more familiar with: the more common local Puerto Rican Spanish and with Peruvian Spanish from relatives). They did not know how to spell "Cromwell" the name of the town I was in or the supposed business. They damaged my doorway and did not properly install the locks. I asked them to stop the work because I was afraid of additional damage. I was then charged $900 and the men would not leave until I paid it. For reference on price gouging with this scam, when I first moved into my property to have locks replaced, the fee was around $100, including hardware. I was told there would be a follow up call from the "business owner". There was no call. When I attempted to call the (860) 337-8048 I was hung up on multiple times, until the woman told me the owner would call me. I received no call. I then decided to look into the situation further. The address listed on the website 1 Dove Ln , Middletown, CT 06457 does not exist as a business location. It is a residential apartment complex. I then looked up the charge on my credit card. The phone number for the business on the charge was (888) 998 - 0076, which does not lead to any reachable business. The address listed for the business on the charge was 3303 MAIN STREET STE 2, CT 06614. Upon looking this up, the businesses at that location are completely unrelated.
