Summons for Debt Recieved a call from 562-296-2830 from a Fischner and Associates Law firm collecting debt from my old Wachovia acct in 2008. i did owe them 200ish dollars from overdraft when i lost my job. Told me to call them at 1-866-282-6413 to talk. I did spoke to a man who knew my name, address and last 4 on SS#. Said my account with wachovia was 700 dollars and they want 1000. I told then it was rediculous and after a short wait his "manager" said it can be settled now for 600. They stated they sent a summons to my home and that we could settle out of court. This is in CA, im from PA and acct was in PA. They state the complaint came from AMD Financial, debt collector. Question is, im willing to pay my debt, but nothing like 600, thats 400 more than i owe. What legal right do i have since i asked for papers and all i got was a 1 page statement from AMD written on Fischner's legal paper stating i owed 600. Prior to any court, do i have the right to wait for documents before i settle? Be advised i dont "hide" from debt aside from my job loss in 2008, this is my 1st call from them and i guess its coming late since Wachovia is no more. i can provide the doc if requested
