We called Lindemann Fireplaces via mobile phone. Lindemann's main number was apparently spoofed by a scammer. Reply for service came from (866) 330-4860. Arrangement for appointment made. The spammer, Daniel, arrived at our home and was shown area of issue. He advised both fireplaces needed a deep cleaning for a cost of $1400 to eliminate creosote. we told him both were gas so no creosote. We objected because fireplace inserts were only a year old, installed brand new. "Daniel" lowered the price to $950. A deposit of $285 was made via Zelle to USA TOP Garage Service LLC. Daniel had a subcontractor, Emilio Lozano, come to clean both fireplaces. I let him in and he finished in about 30 minutes. Neither Daniel or Emilio were part of Lindemann. Daniel came back a few days later to inspect the work. $150 was deducted, and I paid via Zelle $515. Invoices were created on Daniel's phone but never sent to me (big mistake on my part). A day later, the insert frame of one fireplace crashed to floor. No damage but it needed to be fixed. I made a number of calls to Daniel. He set up appointments but didn't show up and didn't return calls until end of day. Daniel finally asked Emilio to come by. When he did, he discovered the pilot system was damaged and needed to be replaced. We decided to call Lindemann directly to have the warranty part ordered. Lindemann said they did not know Daniel or subcontract their work as I thought. We made a new appointment with Lindemann, and hopefully things will get back to normal. We informed Lindemann about the spoofing of their business phone numbers so their IT group can protect them better. They are a good company with reliable workers.
