Recently, while browsing the internet to find assistance for cancelling my McAfee subscription, I came across a webpage titled “McAfee Cancel Subscription Help – Avoid Recurring Charges.” The page listed the phone number 888-599-0371 as a support helpline. Believing it was genuine, I called the number and spoke with a person who claimed to be a McAfee support representative. He informed me that there was a problem with my subscription billing and said he could help cancel it immediately. However, he instructed me to purchase Amazon gift cards as part of the cancellation and refund verification process. Trusting the instructions, I shared the gift card codes with him. Later I discovered that the support was fraudulent and I had been scammed. I am reporting this incident so appropriate action can be taken and others can be protected from similar fraud.
