Received a piece of mail regarding a urgent response needed to a service contract / warranty extension for a vehicle I had recently bought telling me to call 1-888-671-4969. The piece of mail had perforated sides to open it and was named for the previous owner of my vehicle but with my address. Official looking first class presorted mail from “Vehicle Services Division,” stating “IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO THIS NOTICE REQUESTED”. The letter is addressed to me, with my full name, personal address, car year, car make and model. States on outside “this notice is time sensitive: sent on 12/16/2025.” The letter is regarding an extended warranty on my vehicle, stating it expiring (it’s not), and that I need to contact them to have the vehicle service contract activate. It is sent in the type of envelop that normally includes a check or official registration. For return mail information, it’s the postal presorted standard mail stamp with the zip code 23231 and Permit No. 1209. Text implies that we failed to activate an already purchased extended warranty and Other language to make you distressed that “you WILL be financially liable for paying any repairs” to your vehicle if you don't take action. “Please Call IMMEDIATELY as this will be our FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU AT 1-888-671-4969.” “RESPOND BY: 1/6/2026” In small print, “Athena Protection is an independent nationwide company marketing vehicle service contracts on behalf of leading third-party administrators.” [BBB Scam Type: Phishing] [Business: Athena Protection] [Location: MI, USA - 48843]

Letter around in the mail explaining that my vehicle factory warranty has expired and to call the number before 01/16/2025 in order to extend the warranty. The letter had the make, model and year of my vehicle in it and used verbiage to try to scare me into calling into the phone number 1 (888) 671-4969.
