Received a call from a 1-888 number, which I didn't answer. The scammer left a voicemail stating the following. It was not someone with a foreign accent: Hi, this is Sarah Kensignton calling on Thursday the 12th from the account status compliance unit with the tax assistance mediation group. I'm contacting you because your account was flagged during an active review where certain filing or balance matter still require confirmation. Before this review window closes we're providing a direct way to verify your status. Our office maintains a dedicated proprietary verification line with no wait, allowing immediate confirmation of your current standing.
