Community Reports

On March 23, 2026, my wife attempted to book an overnight stay for June 12, 2026 at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. While booking online, she was presented with a toll-free phone number and called it to complete the reservation. During that call, my wife informed the reservationist that our daughter would be competing in the Special Olympics and asked whether the hotel offered special rates for athletes and their families that weekend. The reservationist explicitly confirmed that special rates were available and quoted a price of $169 per night. My wife agreed to this rate, provided her credit card information, and completed the booking. Shortly thereafter, she received an email confirmation that appeared legitimate and included an itinerary number, the hotel name and address, and the confirmed dates of stay. However, upon reviewing our credit card statement shortly after the booking, we discovered a charge of $451.90 listed as “Fairfield Inn” with a merchant location of West Palm Beach, Florida. This immediately raised concerns, as the amount charged did not align with the quoted $169 rate, the charge was processed immediately despite the stay not occurring until June 2026, and the merchant location did not correspond with the hotel location in Illinois. We promptly called the phone number listed in the confirmation email (888-972-9163) to determine whether this charge was related to the booking. The representatives we spoke with were unable to provide clear or consistent answers as to why the charge amount differed, why it reflected a Florida location, or why the charge had been processed so far in advance. They also claimed they could not even see the charge on our credit card. The following day, we attempted to resolve the issue by calling two additional phone numbers, including a local number for the hotel. All calls again routed to representatives asso [BBB Scam Type: Travel/Vacation/Timeshare] [Business: ReservationDesk.com] [L
