Do not answer calls from 1-888-995-0500 So, my dad was tricked into a scam where this number called him offering to fix his computer for $250.00. My dad isn't tech savvy and let them remote connect. They placed a .bat file into his startup programs forcing his computer into a reboot loop that I was only able to stop by booting in Safe Mode, hunting down the .bat file and deleting it. They tried to convince him to pay an additional $200.00 to remove the file. Luckily, my mom told me what was up so i could stop him before he gave them more money. I called the phone number to demand a refund and told them i would be filing a police report for trying to extort my dad for money and for their illegal business practices, to which they replied; "Fuck you, asshole." and hung up. I don't know where to start but i want to shut these people down. Any tips are appreciated, and don't fall into this trick.
