UPDATE 3: Helping my mom So today I went to Costco and the amount of "stuff" I brought home (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, and tissues) was pretty overwhelming to her. I found a place to store everything but she felt I was doing too much (she was out of everything). The real "bridge too far" was that I bought towels. I should point out that I'm 50 and I think every towel in the house is my age or older. Who doesn't like nice fluffy white towels? Someone who feels like linens and laundry are HER domain, that's who. They're still in the trunk. I considered telling her they're MY towels but I could tell she was a little upset so I just backed off. As a complete aside, I'm still finding tons of stuff in the house that needs fixing and remediating that. Those of you following the saga will be happy to know the basement dehumidifiers are 100% squared away ;) Today it was the p-trap under the guest bathroom sink - it had completely rusted out! So I went to home depot to buy parts, and came back with a new trap... plus a smoke / CO detector for the kitchen (there wasn't one before) as well as a fire extinguisher). In many ways I feel like I'm here at exactly the right time. I hope so, anyway. Mom was able to remember that her appt with her NP is tomorrow and that she should shower in the morning so I'm getting her up at 8:00. She hasn't showered since I've been here and I've been asking her to please take care of herself. Faced with the idea of an appt. with someone she knows tomorrow, she agreed to shower. I asked if she felt safe in the shower (i.e. do I need to install grab bars?) and she said yes. I will probably install grab bars anyway. I talked to a couple of [aging life care experts](https://www.aginglifecare.org//ALCAWEB/What_is_Aging_Life_Care/Search/Find_an_Expert.aspx) today and it was great - they basically act like a project manager / case manager / focal for your loved one. It's exactly what we need to let mom continue living indepe
