Pretentious Roomates Hello all, I recently started my sophomore year at university, and I have two roommates who are incredibly nit-picky with how we decorate the apartment. The place has almost no decorations, there is one small rug on the floor, a plant in the corner, and a lamp that I brought. One roommate did bring this [architecture coffee table book](http://www.salmelaarchitect.com/) but it just makes me sick to see how they think our apartment needs to be so professional looking and it just feels so fake and pretentious to me. We're 19 and 20 years old and they're trying to put architecture coffee table books down and leave the place as minimal as possible. It feels like a museum in here. I keep finding what I think to be pretty neutral posters (not just chicks in swimsuits, things like [this](http://www.bandagedear.com/image/view/4-seasons-by-alphonse-mucha) and [this](http://www.artfreeshipping.com/images/Pablo%20Picasso/The_Old_Guitarist_1903_4898.jpg)) but both of them just want to leave the place bare. The coldness of the apartment's decorations is mirrored in how they treat guests. I want it to be a place where friends feel welcome but it is just such a cold environment I don't know what to do. I feel so strongly that college (especially as early as sophomore year) is the time to have shitty posters hung up in your apartment and to be a little cluttered. **TL;DR: Roommates are not very inviting of other people into their personal space, trying really hard to seem sophisticated with minimal and cold interior design.**
