Are these 'business awards' not worth the paper they're written on? A friend of a friend of a friend works at a company that has recently received a number of business awards. Two of the awards carry exactly the same signature. The websites for the organisations giving out the awards both have lists of recent winners and the reason they won the award. The friend of a friend of a friend's company is mentioned on both sites, and the name of the chair of judges is the same. It seems as though you submit your own nomination along with about $300 and then a group of 5 previous winners decide whether to give you the award. The only thing qualifying you is that you have been nominated for an award (any award) in the previous year. This seems like a complete racket. The sites in question: http://www.bestbusinessawards.co.uk/feedback.asp http://www.bestofthebestbusinessawards.com/current_winners.asp They seem to be related to this organisation: http://www.awardsintelligence.co.uk/ I also found them mentioned here: http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/rod-liddle/2012/05/why-hire-nurses-when-you-can-win-awards/ And a similar article by the same guy which is confirming my suspicions: http://www.spectator.co.uk/columnists/rod-liddle/7821453/it-isnt-just-me-whos-shopping-for-honours/ Thanks for any enlightenment - fofafofaf
