On May 2, 2025, I paid $3,708 for 200 copies of my book to be printed, distributed to Capital Book Store for their book fair and other promotional events. The books were to be featured on front shelves for higher visibility and better sales promotion. I would receive 90% royalties from the sales. The book was officially published and available for printing in December of 2025. In January of 2026, I began to inquire about the progress of the book store placement project. I was given multiple different and conflicting excuses as to why the books either had not been printed or had not been shipped. First they had not shipped due to a snow storm, but shortly after they actually had not been printed. Then they suddenly were printed but the war was delaying shipment. When requesting the names of the bookstores so that I could confirm they were expecting my books, I was only given a point of contact at bookplacement.com, telling me I had to go through them for information, not to contact the book stores directly. By March of 2026, with no progress or information from book store placement, I requested a refund because I had no received the services I paid for. I approached the topic of a refund on 2 separate occasions. On March 27 and March 28. Both emails were received but the refund request was not acknowledged. I was simply told to continue to be patient. I responded by explaining that if no refund was issues, and no services were rendered, I would be forced to dispute the charges with me bank. Upon disputing the charges, I was emailed this response, "At the time the dispute was raised, you had the option to request a refund in accordance with the contract. Instead, initiating a dispute constituted a direct breach of the agreed terms. Have you reached out regarding any dissatisfaction, the matter could have been resolved professionally, including a potential refund review.".
