I was punched and have chipped teeth, can I sue without a police report? This happened at a camp site with a bunch of coworkers. A coworker brought one of his friends with a drinking problem and this person became extremely intoxicated. I had a few drinks (2 or 3, according to [this](http://www.brad21.org/bac_charts.html) I was not too drunk to drive) and went for a ride around our campsite (which was HUGE) with a coworker. While on the drive I noticed the drunk guy stumbling so I stopped and asked if he would like a ride, he said "Fuck you! I'M driving!" and tried to pull me out of the car (through the window 0_0). I drove away and when we returned to camp the guy runs up to my car and punches me in the face as I was trying to exit. I have a huge black eye which is swollen shut and 3 chipped teeth. I am going to need dental work and feel that this drunk guy should pay, the next morning he even apologized and said that he would "Help me pay for the dentist" But now, of course, he won't reply to my e-mails... I don't wan't to file a police report because this guy is a friend of a friend but I can't afford the dental work. Is there any way I can collect without filing a police report? **Edit:** Fixed the link
