I was contacted via text message by a fake recruiter by the name of Trevor. He said he found my resume on Indeed.com which my resume is public for real recruiters to find. He then asked if I would interested in doing an instant message interview on zoom or teams. He said the hourly wage would be $35/hr and it was a completely remote data entry position. Of course this sounded intriguing to me, but I knew not to trust it. I went ahead and gave him the email to my zoom and a man named Glenn MacFarlane contacted me for the instant message interview. I made small talk and asked what this company was because this was something I did not even apply for it. He then sent me the following message, “ The company you are applying to is Carelon Behavioral Health. Carelon Behavioral Health is a company that thrives on its core values. We are committed to long-term success by placing customer needs at the center of our mission. Our success is built upon a strong brand identity. For more information about our company, please feel free to explore our website: [https://www.carelon.com/about-us) Okay?” I said thank you for the info and went to the website. The website is legitimate. It looks nice, it runs well, and they even have a linked-in attached. There is an AI photo which I noticed immediately but other than that, no real red flags with the website. I still didn’t trust it so I kept searching. Eventually I found the BBB and someone reported this before and the messages were the same. So before we got too far, I copied and what he would say next and sent it to him as a signal that I know this isn’t legit. I then blocked him.
