Ticketed in the Angeles National Forest I was hiking with friends in the Angeles National Forest (Los Angeles, County, CA) a few days ago. We returned to our car to find a $175.00 ticket on the car for being in a closure area as per [order no. 01-12-02](http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5369998.pdf). The offense charged is listed as [Title 36 CFR 261.53(e)](http://cfr.vlex.com/vid/261-53-special-closures-19770732). The order states that this area has been closed for rehabilitation from the station fire, which happened in 2009. However, nowhere in the forest are there any signs indicating that the area is closed. We checked for them all around the area we parked, all along the road out of the park, and at the entrance to the park. I have photographs of the parking area as well. Since we had been here many times before in the past year (while the park was still under the same order) without getting tickets, we had no idea that there was any sort of closure under effect. We also didn't bother stopping by the ranger station, since it was not near the hike we were taking, and again, we had been here many times before without incident. My friends and I even cleaned up garbage left alongside the trail. Is there a chance that they will let me off if I choose to appear in court, since the area was not marked at all? Do all visitors to national forests have an obligation to stop by the ranger station upon entrance? Thanks for your help!
