I built a phone companion, one user has stuck with it and I'm not sure what to make of that Long-time lurker here. I've been making something over the last few months for my elderly mother and I'd value honest takes from this sub. It's a calm voice you ring on the phone. It is AI but it doesn't pretend not to be. No app, no screen, you just pick up, so it's for everybody. The idea was to fill the gap between proper visits as I live far away, the long quiet stretches when nobody's going to call. I wasn't sure anyone else would actually use it. Then someone started ringing it daily for a chat, and hasn't stopped. That surprised me. I'm not selling anything. The first few calls are free then it's pay-as-you-go as I can't afford hosting bill otherwise.
