I received a message from Pridhi Arora ACCA on LinkedIn about a prospective job I applied for. She asked me to set up Microsoft Teams to chat with "the person in charge", which I did. The person I started chatting with, Vanessa Molony, sent me some vague details about the pay, which I did not ask for. She continued sending pre-written messages that weren't quite relevant to my questions, instructed me to register with chatmeterworks.com. She also made sure to ask me if I have a SSN and a bank account, which I thought was odd. I Googled the website and immediately a warning about employment scams came up. Someone by the name of Mahmoud Bishara reached out to me on LinkedIn after I had applied for a remote position "Airbnb Online Promotion Specialist". He confirmed my interest in the position and said his team member would reach out via Microsoft teams. I was then contacted by someone named VANESSA MOLONY, who asked me general questions and gave me information about the supposed position. She verified that I had an active bank account and valid SSN. I confirmed that I did, however, did not share the information with her of course. She then had me create an account on chatmeterworks.com, which should have been my first inclination that it was scam as the proper domain is chatmeter.com, however, I was unfamiliar with the platform and took it at face value. She then created a training account for me to complete a training session, and asked me to verify the amount available in the training account which was $500. This all happened within a 20-30 minute conversation, so I hadn't had time to fully vet her or the company yet. I was beginning to get suspicious, so I did some research and found the domain discrepancy as well as another scam report about Vanessa Molony that sounded eerily similar to my situation. I then told her I no longer felt comfortable continuing after the information I had found and she immediately stopped responding. Beware of these individuals if they contact you!
