Chelsea Senior living - experiences positive or negative Just found this sub, and first, thanks to all for sharing stories and supporting one another. Just knowing that there are others who have to deal with all this stuff is so helpful. I have three aging parents to deal with, but this post is about my MIL, who's 82 with some fairly significant health issues. She was widowed about 5 years ago and lives in a split level house in the suburbs. She's finally realized that it's not workable physically (or financially) and is getting ready to move to Independent Living. She checked out a pretty new facility run by [Chelsea Senior Living](https://www.chelseaseniorliving.com/locations/) and decided that's where she wants to go. It's pretty expensive (I think like $5200 a month), but that includes utilities, meals, etc. In her big house, she spends a lot for things she doesn't really need (like a pool that only the neighbors use, food that she overbuys and lets rot in the fridge, etc.) So here's my concern in a nutshell: I'm concerned that they will jack up the price by a lot once she's in there. When my husband was on the phone with the person for the facility, it sounded like a real hard sell (she must be in here by Sept. 15, Oct. 1 at the latest, or we won't be able to give the discount \[which raises the amount to something like $6K I think\], etc.) They had sent a copy of the agreement, and there's a clause in there, for example, that says that they can raise the rates at any time with 30 days notice. We had a lawyer look at it (friend of my BIL), and he pointed out that it's not a lease. He was also concerned with some of the vague language. At any rate, has anybody ever had a relative in a facility run by this company, and if so, could you share whether it was a good or bad situation? Thanks so much.
