Anyone heard of/seen a phishing attempt launched from CNN.com? Ok, I just went to CNN to check the news. I clicked on the following article (http://money.cnn.com/2017/11/25/news/wall-street-elizabeth-warren-consumer-financial-protection-bureau/index.html) and it auto-loads a video. Ugh, I hate those. Regardless, the unavoidable advertisement finished and I was immediately redirected to a "survey" site which told something similar to "Congratulations! You've randomly been selected by [insert the name of my ISP] has selected you for a quick survey. Please click ... and when you are done you will be given $75." Ok, I immediately assumed it was a scam. I closed the browser window, went back to CNN, re-clicked the look (and I also double-checked that I was on CNN and not something like CNN.co) and then I went back to the same article. I had the exact same experience. The ad kicked off, as soon as it was done, I hit the pause button because I wanted to read the article and then I was re-directed to another "survey" site, this time with different details. Anyway, I am 100% sure this was a phishing scam however I've not heard of CNN, or any other major news site being hit by an attack like this. Does anyone know about such a scam and is there any way to prevent these type of redirects/pop-ups form occurring? Personally, I hate the auto-load videos but so far I've found no way to completely cut them off without disabling video all together.
