Could definitely use some help identifying this scam... Last wednesday evening I received a telephone call from an "unavailable" number. A "gary bishop" was calling for my mother, stating that she was being served and gave her a case number. That she should be available between the hours of X and Y today. Today they called again. So I returned the call to this company called, "CCA" and asked the woman what company that was. She stated, "Credit Capital Acquisitions". Their website is SUPER cheap and has next to no details. I called back later and stated I was lawyer for my client that they were contacting me on. They immediately transferred me to someone who sounded much more professional. He gave me four digits and asked me to verify if that's my mothers social, I just said yes, and he was like incorrect and hung up on me. Called my mother, got her last four and called back. They forwarded me back to the same gentleman. I asked him to do the same thing and that I could easily now verify the social. He said it was "against 3rd party consumer laws to do so". I said, go ahead, try even one number, he did, I immediately stated it was incorrect. And he said, "I don't have to deal with you". I told him he was full of shit. He hung up on me. My mother is completely unaware of any collections against her and pays her bills (I know, because I help her pay them). I know this is a scam. The unavailable call number, the 877 number, the sketchy website which lacks any details, the fact that one of my calls was dropped and when I called back he said they used the internet to handle their calls (probably makes them untraceable). I know they want money. But since this group seems to be a bit concrete and not fly by night, I feel like there's a way to track them down. Someone help me!
