I think I'm falling victim to the "Financing Fell Through" scam. What should I do? http://dealerfraud.org/2008/12/car-dealer-scams-the-financing-fell-through-scam/ I leased a 2010 Honda Civic at a major Honda dealer about 3 weeks ago. I paid the down payment of $1500 and signed all the papers. I've been driving the car ever since. Friday, I got a call saying that they needed me to come in to discuss some financing issues. So, I came in on Saturday morning and sat down with the guy who sold me the car. He (supposedly) had no idea of why I was there. I told him that Ted (the guy who I signed all the papers with) called and told me to come in. Ted was busy, I guess, so the salesman came back with all the paperwork and told me that I had to give them another $1000 down. I said that I didn't have it, and that I had no way of getting it any time soon since I can only afford $300/month for the car. How am I supposed to come up with 3+ months worth of money? He went back and talked to Ted for a while then came back and told me that they were too busy to talk about it then and that I should come back at 4:30 on Monday. He told me my options were: 1) to give back the car, in which case they'd give me back my down payment *adjusted for mileage* 2) to get a cosigner 3) to come up with the $1000 more or 4) to use my down payment on a different car, which I presume would be an older, less expensive one. What scares me about this is the "adjusted for mileage" phrase he used. Also, he showed me paperwork that says that I would be approved if I had 5% down. The car is ~$18,000, so $1500 is much more than 5%. He tried to tell me they need 5% more, which is sill less than $1000. He also said that this extra $1000 wouldn't lower my payment, which is the biggest red flag in my opinion. The option I'm planning on going with is just getting my money back and giving them back the car. The problem is that I've driven it about 800 miles already. Are they going to try to get money out o
