Can my Employer monitor my LinkedIn? Location: New Jersey resident working in New York USA Last year my employer decided to start actively monitoring everyone's LinkedIn. They required us to change our account to have our work email as our primary, and required us to very specifically change our profile to match what they wanted. They have access to change my account and have even removed a like I made on a post. This feels excessive, I have basically stopped using my LinkedIn as a result (not that I was regularly using it but, still, I was using it to communicate professionally and I occasionally get contacted by recruiters.) I work in the financial services industry, which I know is heavily regulated, but I have not heard of any other financial institutions doing this. It is my personal account and though it lists my employer on there, I was not hired to do social media and believe it should not be monitored as such. I saw there was a state law in NY (reference to it at the below link) that prevents employers from doing exactly what I've described. Can someone with better legal chops than me comment if this feels as illegal as I think it is?
