Buying World Cup tickets through Reddit - this is a legit seller right? Seller posted that he/she was selling World Cup tickets at face-value, which is over $100 below the current market price. Their account has low karma, but has a normal post and comment history, including in World Cup subreddits. I inquired, and the seller said that they were still available. I asked for video proof, and he/she sent a video of him/her opening the app, and scrolling through the 2 tickets. The app and tickets looked authentic, and the time on the phone lined up with when the video was sent (sent at 2:49pm, phone said 2:47pm). This was enough to satisfy me. We then moved into logistics. I asked the seller if he/she could send the tickets first, because why not. He/she of course declined, but offered to use PayPal G&S or escrow.com. I then asked if those platform’s fees were included in the asking price, he/she said we would split the fee 50/50, which I am also fine with. Seller then sent me a screenshot of his escrow.com listing, ready to go forward with it. Once I said that l was ready, he/she said that they would have to “step away from the computer for a little bit”, which seems a little odd. The seller sent the video through Vimeo, and I researched the account of which the video was posted on. The Vimeo account lines up too, as I found the business online, and it is based in the seller’s home city, the same city that he/she also has Reddit history on. I maybe also was able to find the actual person on LinkedIn, and she has over 500 connections. So, does this all sound legit?
Selling my car I've got my car listed on Autotrader. A 2014 Ford Focus ST for $23000. I get a call today inquiring about it. We talk for a couple minutes, he needs to have it shipped out of state. He said he will handle the shipping. He's going to call me back in a couple days about the shipping. I told him I was going to use escrow.com for their lien payoff and auto buying service. As I understand, they don't do anything until the money clears, which seems safe to me. Does this seem like a scam?
Demand Letter from lawyer demanding I sell someone my URL, options? A few years ago I purchased a url that I planned to turn into a website but it was my first site and slow progress that has not panned out. I have a lot of work that never got published for the site so its remained blank. A few months ago i had an email offer to purchase the site. They setup a transfer on escrow.com which i accepted but never went through with because of bad reviews people have had with escrow.com and url transfers. I didn't want to get scammed. I figured they were just a scammer so i stopped replying to their emails. This week i received an email from a lawyer saying there was a contractual agreement and i have to sell the site and that they will sue me for cyber squatting because the page is blank and currently up for auction on sedo. What are my options? EDIT: The url is related to the legal field and the person who wants it is part of a legal publishing company. The lawyer is real that sent the demand letter.
