I was trying to check the balance on a new physical Visa gift card from giftcardmall.com. When I entered the address on the card (giftcardmall.com/mygift) to check the balance in the browser on my iPhone, it actually did a web search and the first sponsored result was giftcardmall/mygift. I clicked on the link and entered my gift card info and drivers license before realizing that the web address was actually https://giftguidersinfo.com. It was also now asking for my SSN. I did not give that info and started over by entering the address correctly and getting to the proper website. When I checked my balance it was down to $0.01. When I checked the transactions I saw that there was 1 transaction of $49.99 today. I also see that when I go back to the site after having visited, it presents a thoughtful giving website instead of the fake gift card balance check website.
