Community Reports

My business received a letter in the mail from Domain Name Services. It requested payment for our website domain name for a five-year term for $265.00 via check, by scanning a QR code, or through givh.com/paynow. It claims that the notice is not a bill, but an offer to switch domain registration to a different company that boasts competitive pricing. It looks very official, but the fact that we've never received mail from them before made this sketchy. The language of their notice is also sketchy; "your domain name expiring in a few months, act now," and "you are under no obligation to pay this amount until the offer is accepted" yet immediately asking for payment. I'm glad someone posted about this earlier! Return address is in my state, but I doubt that's their headquarters. Be aware! They tried to deceive us into paying a renewal for our website domain name rather than paying our existing host. It looks like an offical renewal even though in the body of the email it says it is not a bill but rather a way to switch. Yet at the bottom of the mail it says May checks payable or pay instantly online at givh.com/paynow. At best it is deceptively designed to be a switch tactic to gaain new buisness. It is very shady and I am glad I was quick to check it out before I gave them any information. [BBB Scam Type: Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill] [Business: Domain Name Services] [Location: MI, USA- 49401]
