[US] Dad got a letter from https://housingeducator.org saying his house is getting foreclosed. Illinois. Dad got a letter from Housing Educator saying his house is being foreclosed and something about the Care pandemic Act. I don’t have the letter and my dad lives far so I’m not sure on that detail. He called and said his house is being foreclosed and he needs to file bankruptcy but said I need to call this man named Pat as I’m next of kin. I have not called yet but this number called me twice. Here is some details \- company is from Florida \- dad has not paid mortgage in year (he’s being goofy trying to get it lowered) \- dad is in an HOA (wouldnt they get involved) \- website looks sketchy but says it’s non profit \- Pat is charging $1900 fee but dad has not paid yet \- My dad was told by Pat to save him from foreclosure he needs to file bankruptcy. Everything points to it being a scam but I hesitate because he hasn’t paid his mortgage in a year and because why would this man want me involved? I’m young and not as susceptible to scams like my older father. Plus I’ve looked up the company and no one is reporting the scam.
