[CAN] Just got scammed by an impersonation scam I am not sure how this happened. It doesn’t seem possible but it happened. My in laws got a call from Koodo/Telus Mobile to see if they wanted to change their plan to a lower plan. This isn’t uncommon and had happened to me recently as well. They didn’t actually call me they sent me a text but whatever. Sometimes they call. Anyway, they had my in-laws email, mailing address, account information for their phone account. My in-laws asked me to look after it because they have been scammed before. The company told me to go to Koodo.com and log into their account. My in-laws had already tried to log into their account and locked the account so I reset the password and logged in. The person on the phone walked me through what to do to get the new plan and a new phone. They said there would be a $25 charge for shipping. So they got a call this morning by the bank saying they had been a victim of a scam. I am concerned now because they already had so much information and they use the same passwords a lot. I am wondering if they downloads a bad app or something. How did this happen? I didn’t give any credit card info over the phone. The connection was not very good when the people called and they had a strong accent which was concerning but I didn’t give any credit them any information. The only thing I can think of is that when I sent a reset for the password of the account they somehow saw what I was doing.
