Canadian Marijuana Laws: What are they? (I need resources/help deciphering the laws for my university graphic design project)(x-post) Hello r/legaladvice! I need your help with my university project. **The Project** I am working on an ad campaign focussing on changing attitudes toward marijuana and its users. I'm currently in the research stage. *Why?* It's my final year in my bachelor of graphic design program and we have a mandatory class in which we get to research anything we want, make a project for ourselves, and work on it until April. So I'm using all the skills I've built up in school to make a well designed, professional campaign to help with the ending of prohibition. **The Problem** Problem is I'm a designer, not a lawyer and I'm having a really hard time understanding what the current Canadian laws actually are. Though I have endless resources on why marijuana should be legal, I've found very few explaining the laws preventing legality. I tried reading the [Controlled Drugs and Substances Act](http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/PDF/C-38.8.pdf) but I don't think I understood it properly (from what I read, weed is flat out illegal, but from experience, it isn't...very confused). **How you can help** *(please remember, I'm talking Canada here)* -if you have any knowledge of how the laws work, please explain -if you know of good resources explaining *current* laws, please link -if you know of people I can contact, please give me their info -if you know anything else that may be relevant, please comment **EDIT:** You can also help by **upvoting so people who do have information might have a chance to see it** (it's a self post, I get no karma)
