I spent 2 months meeting with Mormon Missionaries and studying cults and saw some frightening parallels on how they were using similar techniques. I am writing a piece that's intended to capture my thoughts and need someone to desperately proofread it so I am not making a fool of myself. **Quick note:**: The missionaries I mentioned were super nice and I don't even think they were aware of the unethical techniques they were using..because these kids (a lot of them are in their late teens and early twenties) go to a place called the [Mormon Missionary Training Center](http://www.mtc.byu.edu/) where they learn all sorts of [techniques](http://www.lds4u.com/Discussions/commitment.htm) and scripts to have better success with "converting" people. Hell, the LDS church runs like a smooth, well oiled machine. Armed with marketing research data and thousands of teenagers with plenty of energy to spread the "truth". I recorded all my conversations with them so I could listen to them after reading up on cults and brainwashing and its really nuts to see it in retrospect. It's pretty much textbook brainwashing. But yea, I jotted down my thoughts and would **absolutely love it** if you guys could proofread it, criticize it and eventually help me polish it up so that it makes sense and it's clear for the average reader that's not familiar with social engineering/brainwashing/religion/etc. Thanks! #### START OF PIECE ##### Recently, I have been a bit fascinated with the idea of Brainwashing (more aptly known as mind control or thought reform in modern discourse) and how cults are formed. Thankfully, most of you will never have to deal with getting involved in a cult - but who knows? Maybe you know of someone involved in a cultish like organization and this might shed some light into the whole spectacle. Perhaps you might be even interested in applying some of the psychological principles involved in forming a cult into your own life. Most of the concepts I’ll be touching on
