Booted and Re-Booted on Private Property, but Receipt Shows Parking Pass Location: Gainesville, FL To summarize: \- When I was moving in to a new apartment, my car was booted. I pay for parking, but I did not put the sticker on my car until later that evening, after the towing company made its rounds. (If this were all, I would assume there is nothing I can do). \- The next day, I installed my parking pass for good measure. I did not call and did not have the boot removed then. \- The next day, I called to have the boot removed. I had to pay the $120 fee and sign agreeing to terms and conditions (which I could not view on the driver's phone, and that he checked the box for. I imagine this detail doesn't matter, though). I also had to sign to authorize the $120 fee. \- The boot was removed and I was texted a receipt. The receipt includes images (meant to prove the parking violation) of my car **from 5pm that day**, after **my parking sticker was installed**. The time of booting was labeled as that day too, even though it was first booted two days prior. I looked into some things, and apparently Gainesville ordinances? have a provision: *"Towing/removal requirements. An immobilized vehicle shall not remain immobilized on private property for more than 24 hours. After such period of time has expired, the vehicle shall be released from the immobilization device and the vehicle may be towed or removed pursuant to this article, and no fee shall be assessed for placement or release of the immobilization device."* *-* The receipt includes a note saying "reboot 2" My questions: 1. My car was booted for more than 24 hours. The receipt calls this a reboot, but my dashcam shows that the boot was not removed/reinstalled. Does this matter according to the law? Can they just take new pictures and call it a reboot? 2. Is rebooting even allowed given the (above) private property limit of 24 hours? 3. This was in the parking garage of my apartment, so I assume they h
Getting really fed up with my neighbor's dog's barking Location: South East Michigan --- This little thing, about half the size of my cat, barks incessantly nearly every day at multiple times throughout the day and sometimes even later at night. I live in a solo home on a street, and the dog lives next door to me. The houses are roughly 30' apart on this street. --- I can literally open a door **inside** my house, dog barks. I go to take my trash bins in or out to/from the street, dog barks. I open my front door to get the mail about a foot outside my door (I have one of those next-to-door mailboxes, not one at the edge of the street), dog barks. The owners let it out to do its business, dog barks. Probably other things it just barks at too, but those I listed are the most common and recurring grievances I have. I would bet it sees its own shadow and barks. At least once it even chased me from their property to mine when I was getting into my vehicle to head to work and nearly bit me. I've been woken up hours before my alarm by this yap machine more than I care to count, negatively affecting how alert I am for work. --- [Here is a link to my local municipal code regarding animal noise](https://library.municode.com/mi/warren/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=PTIICOOR_CH7AN_ARTVIIANBE_S7-74BAHODO) [This one might apply too since it came after me at least once](https://library.municode.com/mi/warren/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=PTIICOOR_CH7AN_ARTVIIANBE_S7-76SUSUCO) [Full link of my city's municipal codes](https://library.municode.com/mi/warren/codes/code_of_ordinances), in case that is helpful. --- This has been going on for years now. It is starting to really **REALLY** ***REALLY*** upset me. How should, if I can, proceed to either get that dog taken away (I wouldn't want that, but its behavior hasn't improved and I want it to just STFU) or the owners fined so they might keep that little demon under control?
Parking Ticket Advice in Crooked Jersey City *I acknowledge that any advice offered to me through this thread does not substitute actual legal advice from a flesh-and-blood verified lawyer. I intend to use any responses to this post as a guideline and nothing more.* I received two parking tickets for the same offense 332-23 - No stopping/standing (any street) in Jersey City Heights. [If I am using municode properly as a reference,] (http://library.municode.com/index.aspx?clientId=16093) then I did not deserve one of these tickets, let alone two. Questions: 1. Is it legal for JC Parking Authority to administer the same ticket multiple times in a day? 2. I was parked about 2 feet from a crosswalk. According to NJ law, one must always park 25ft away from a crosswalk. However, if this were the case, there would be zero parking in my neighborhood due to bus stops/etc. Am I still liable for the fee due to being parked near, though not interfering with, a crosswalk? 3. What the hell does 332-23 No Stopping/Standing (Any Street) even mean? I literally have not been able to find ANYTHING about parking restrictions in my neighborhood, with the exception of street-cleaning. It appears on municode as if this offense is only applicable in other neighborhoods of Jersey City, or something. I'm confused by the "limits" category. Ack I ask for some thoughts from legal-savvy folk as I'm a broke college student and I have gotten a fair few tickets I deserved (from lack of available parking, ugh), but I really can't afford to shell out the money to make these go away.
