Community Reports

My husband and I had been messaging on Facebook with a wire fox terrier breeder without a reputation (David's Wire Fox Terriers) for a month, claiming they needed to re-home a 3 yr old female wire fox terrier. He sent me pictures of the dog and an AKC certificate of merit but refused to get on a video call with us, sending a 10 sec video instead (weirdly that had music in it). We were interested in adopting her, and we got ALL the way to signing a contract, giving him half deposit, and were supposed to have the dog shipped from FLA to CA... only to get an email from a "fake" courier company requesting $600 for a crate (claiming it would be fully refunded) or $780 to keep the crate... including language: "you will need an electronic anti pressure ventilation crate urgently to deliver your dog" etc. The courier website was smartsmcourier.com also going by logitic.rstheme.com This instructed us to send funds via Chime to someone we didn't know. Our contact insisted we needed to do this: "How do you expect delivery to be done without using a crate? Please cooperate with them so they can proceed asap and have this done Or you can send it to me so I hand it over to them. Did you make the payment? I have paid them the delivery fee and it’s different from crate fee. I have used them for a long time and I assure you they are very legit. I have paid them the delivery fee." etc. I blocked and reported him. [BBB Scam Type: Online Purchase] [Business: David's Wire Fox Terriers Date] [Location: CA, USA - 94401]
