If I convert a Knit Pattern and sell it does my version violate copyright? Location: Fort Worth Texas I the last few weeks I've been converting the Fox Cardigan from Project Hail Mary from a Knit Pattern to a Crochet Pattern. I cannot knit and neither can a lot of my friends so I have been making a Crochet version for myself and them. I bought the og Mary Maxim Wolf Pattern (https://www.marymaxim.com/products/wolf-cardigan-pattern-32089) and have been converting it by hand into a spreadsheet/print outs. I did not buy the fox pattern because the only way the pattern is available is sold in a bundle with the yarn. They currently do not have a Crochet version available as of me posting this. Yes, it is the same design as the one in the movie, but by definition, since it is a different form of fiber art, it is no longer the same "pattern" if that makes sense. Would I get in big trouble if I released my crochet version out to the public for free? What about if I sold it?
