They sent me an offer letter and a detailed onboarding packet that appeared to be from Nektar Therapeutics, but the documents contained unusual language, lacked official contact information, and did not match legitimate corporate HR documents. The offer included a high hourly wage and instructions about receiving a “startup check” to purchase home office equipment. I later learned this is a common pattern in employment scams where the scammer sends a fraudulent check. Before realizing the job was not legitimate, I provided my name, address, and signed the offer letter. I did not provide my Social Security number, bank information, or any financial details. No money was exchanged. After researching the domain “nektarcareers.com,” I discovered that the real Nektar Therapeutics only uses email addresses ending in “@nektar.com,” and that similar fake job offers have been reported. Nektar’s official website also warns about fraudulent employment offers. I am reporting this because I believe the individuals using the “nektarcareers.com” addresses are impersonating the company and attempting to conduct an employment scam involving fake checks and personal information collection.
