Topless in Central Park - Legal? Allowed? Today was hot as the Dickens (~95 degrees Fahrenheit) and I was reading a book in Central Park in New York City. I was approached by two armed NYPD officers who asked me to either put my dress back on (I was wearing bottoms underneath, mind you) or else they were going to escort me out of the park. I protested that it is legal in New York State for a man or woman to be topless, but they told me that it is against park rules. They disregarded the several topless men playing frisbee nearby. I've checked the website (http://www.nycgovparks.org/rules), but I can't seem to find where it states men and women can't be topless. They mention that it's forbidden to expose genitalia, but surely nipples don't fall into that category?
