To validate the outreach, I reviewed the company website, its listing on Indeed, and Ms. Pupaza’s profile on LinkedIn. All appeared legitimate, so I proceeded with the application process. Following several email exchanges, I participated in an initial interview via Microsoft Teams on Monday, April 20, 2026. During this meeting, audio and video were not functional, and the interview was conducted entirely through chat. On April 21, 2026, I was invited to a second follow-up interview under similar circumstances—again without audio or video—and was subsequently offered the position. After receiving the offer, the process accelerated significantly. I was asked to complete onboarding documentation and provided copies of my driver’s license and passport. As the role was described as fully remote, I was then sent a check in the amount of $3,120.00, with instructions to deposit it and use the funds to purchase work equipment. This request raised immediate concerns. Upon further review with my son, additional inconsistencies became apparent. When I requested a direct company email address (with a @nymbus.com domain) and a contact phone number, the individual declined to provide either and stated that all communication must occur exclusively through Teams. At no point was a verifiable corporate contact method provided. To verify the legitimacy of these communications, both my son and I contacted Ms. Pupaza directly via LinkedIn.
