I was shopping online for a spare tire kit for my 2023 Toyota Prius. On 7/1/2024 I received a facebook message from Offroaddesign saying they offer car parts. I told them what I was interested in and they said they could send me the parts for $320.00. They gave me their address, which I searched and it looked like a legit business. They sent me an invoice and a PayPal payment request and told me to pay using Paypal friends and family. On 7/9/2024 they sent me two photos of the parts they were going to send me. I sent in my Paypal payment using my Capital One credit card (with an additional $9.58 fee) on 7/9/2024. I thought I was fully protected using Paypal and a credit card. On 7/10/2024 I asked if they received my payment. They said they did not and that it may take a few days. They sent me another Paypal payment request that I refused to pay. They asked for my credit card number which I refused to give them. I was back and forth with Offroaddesign via facebook messager until 7/19/2024 when they said they received payment. I asked them when will the parts be shipped and heard nothing. On 7/22/2024 I asked again about shipping and heard nothing. On 7/23/2024 I asked again about shipping and heard nothing back. On 7/23/2024 I went on the Offroad Design website (www.offroaddesign.com ) and asked what was the status on my order. They responded “I do not see you in our system and that invoice number is not from us.” “I don’t have anything in my system under that name. What part did you order?” “Unfortunately there is a Facebook scam going around with someone pretending to be us, hopefully you are not victim to that.” “I am sorry to hear that, we only sell parts for older GM and Chevy Trucks. We are a real company in Colorado and do not sell on Facebook. We only sell through our website. This is our real Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/offroaddesign.
