Cabo, Mexico: Paradisusloscabosresort.com - Scam? Hi, I haven’t been scammed, but I got spooked out of something and wanted to see if anyone knows if this is a known scam. I booked a hotel in Cabo directly on their website. they asked for my information just as any hotel does, got my credit card information etc and it all seemed ok. Then I get an email saying that my request to book was approved and they need me to confirm that they are authorized to charge my card. I said yes; seems like a bad system, but nothing wrong so far. Then they emailed back AND called saying that they also needed the security code of my card, “urgently”. Through email? hmmm even if this is not a scam, I don’t feel comfortable sending my security code through email. So I messaged back telling them my concern and asking for a different payment option. No answer. Hours later I sent another message saying I no longer authorize the charge and want to cancel my request. They replied the next day saying the request was cancelled. I go back and forth wondering if this might have been a scam or just a really bad system. I feel like scams would offer really glaring discounts or something. This was not a “deal” by any means. I have a hard time believing people are just giving their security code freely like that. Or maybe I’m just paranoid 😬
