When browsing for how to receive a passport, one of the first websites to generate through google was the passportsubmissions.us. This website describes that there is an application fee in order to fill out the application before you take the completed application to an appropriate site to purchase the actual passport book. The website was very deceiving and realistic. It also required that you input all the personal information that is required on the actual application (U.S. Passport - Form DS-11). Once you filled out the forum, it autogenerated a typed in version of the DS-11 form for printing after purchase. The website even sent a receipt of my purchase. "passportsubmissions.us" is *not* an official, government affiliated, passport application servicer. They take your personal information including SSN, and charge up to $180 for "passport service". The "service" provided is an emailed .pdf copy of the application form (which is available for free via the Department of State website) with your information filled in. Prior to purchase there is no indication on their site that the fees go only to this unnecessary "service" and that you will need to pay the standard application fees to the DoS by mail.
