I purchased an item off Facebook. It took me to PupaPaws.com website. Later, in addition the the price of the item, I was charged for a subscription at 39.99/month. I never signed up for it. It appeared as Curea Shop on the credit card statement, as did the item I did purchase. I have emailed twice. I have called and left messages. No response. I made a purchase on pupapaws.com for a pet toy on March 19th, but later on March 31st, I was charged $39.99 for a “VIP membership” that I did not knowingly sign up for. This membership was not clearly disclosed during checkout, and I did not authorize any subscription. After noticing the charge, I contacted the company to request a cancellation and refund. The company claimed the charge was for a VIP membership and refused to issue a refund, stating that the payment had already been processed. They only canceled future charges after I complained. I believe this is a deceptive practice involving unauthorized or hidden subscription charges (negative option billing). I have disputed the charge with my bank.
