My low-mileage Toyota has a defective engine block Location: Colorado My wife and I have a 2020 Toyota RAV4 with 34K miles. We're the original owners. The car began leaking coolant and we took it to the dealership. We got the following surprise diagnosis: "Engine leaking coolant through case. Porous casing engine failure. Found coolant leaking through cylinder block assembly. Requires engine replacement." We've been quoted ~$10,000 for a used engine, or much more for a new one. Here's the facts: - We've taken excellent care of the vehicle. Literally all it's needed is oil changes cause we have 34k miles. - We have photos of the leak from the dealership. It's literally leaking coolant through aluminum engine block. Similar to [this post][https://www.reddit.com/r/Justrolledintotheshop/comments/1dd0soq/i_present_you_a_2024_rav4_with_500kms_and_a/]. The recall states: "The subject vehicles are equipped with a 2.5L 4 Cylinder engine (A25A) and may have been produced with engine blocks containing higher porosity levels. Higher levels of porosity could create cracks in the cooling passages, resulting in coolant leaking internally and/or externally." The recall remedy is: "Dealers will replace the engine, including the engine block, with a new one free of charge to customers.” - Toyota says our VIN is not included in the recall. Assistance denied again. Not just "man that sucks, you should sue them". More like, is there legal standing that a
