I received an email today saying they were contacting me because of my profile on Indeed and wanted to interview me for a Remote Administrative Assistant position for Reach Security. When I responded to the email that I would be interested in interviewing I received an immediate response with a link to what I thought would be a scheduling app like Calendly but instead immediately opened a Teams chat window with the person from the email. They then said that they wanted to do the interview entirely by chat in Teams. While this was happening I was also looking up information on the company. The Reach Security site www.reach.security.com was well developed but the originating email address was [email protected] and did not match the company domain. Further, the company site did not list any open positions for Administrative Assistants.In the Teams chat I pointed out the discrepancy in the domain urls, and asked if he would provide the means to verify his legitimacy as a representative of Reach Security, and asked to reschedule the interview after I contacted the company to confirm his connection. I received no response, so I blocked the contact. This seems potentially benign at this point, but I have just extricated myself from a hiring scam that followed almost an identical no-contact interview with sketchy and difficult to confirm connection to the company they claimed to be, I recognized the pattern. I have since turned off the ability for potential employers to find me via my Indeed profile, and I will be filing reports with the FTC and BBB.
